Tanjore is an ancient South Indian style of painting using panels, painted over and often affixed with jewels. Google India, in an extension of the acclaimed “The Web is What You Make of It” campaign for Chrome, tells the real story of a Tanjore artist in India who, faced with a slow business that threatened the art, used the Internet to bring the style back to life — and become a successful businessman. In a beautifully crafted spot, elements of the Tanjore style are used to tell the story, with jewels creating the Chrome logo and layered, panel-based shots used to tell the story of a web — without a single computer in sight.
